Summer concert series begins at Si View
Outdoor summer concerts take place this summer, Thursday evenings from July 10 through August 7 at Si View.
Concert showtimes are 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Si View Community Center, 400 S.E. Orchard Drive, North Bend.

Cartoon class helps develop drawing skills
Back by popular demand, local editorial cartoonist Jeff Johnson will host a “Cartooniversity” class for ages 9 to 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at Si View Community Center’s fireside room.
Johnson’s class helps children of all skill levels learn the many aspects of cartoon drawing, emphasizing the growth of each child’s own style in a positive, encouraging environment. All materials are provided by the instructor. Children should bring a sack lunch and a good attitude. Cost is $44.

Volunteer medical techs sought by fire department
The city of Snoqualmie is looking for dedicated men and women who are willing to serve their community as volunteer members of the local fire department.
Because 80 percent of all calls are medical responses, the Snoqualmie Fire Department has an emergency medical services (EMS) volunteer program requiring just emergency medical technician (EMT) training. As EMS volunteers, graduates would respond to all EMS aid calls when they are available.
To be considered, applicants must be at least 21 years of age, live within 10 minutes of the city, and pass a basic entrance examination. The King County EMT academy pre-test will be held Aug. 5, and training will begin Aug. 19 and end with the state exam on Nov. 25. Classes are held on Tuesday evenings and all day on Saturdays.
