Long-term closure for Valley bridge

The Sunday Creek Bridge, a small span located on North Fork Road S.E., about 17 miles northeast of North Bend, will be closed at noon on Friday, Oct. 31. The bridge will not reopen until the King County Road Services Division can replace it.

The condition of the bridge has reached a point where county bridge engineers do not feel it is safe for traffic. The replacement project is tentatively scheduled for the summer of 2009, but construction funding is still pending.

There are no homes beyond the bridge. It is used mostly by recreationalists, logging and quarry companies, and the forest service.

Cancer support

in North Bend

The North Bend Breast Cancer Support Group meets 2 to 3:30 p.m. on the third Sunday of each month at the North Bend Library meeting room.

Upcoming events include a pre-holiday craft day on Nov. 16, and a holiday tea on Dec. 21.

Long-term or newly diagnosed breast cancer patients and survivors can meet, share feelings and understanding with other women, discuss resources for care and support, and enjoy craft activities. Light refreshments are provided.

The group is facilitated by Susan Olds, a North Bend resident and former program manager for Cancer Lifeline in Bellevue and Seattle. She is a 10-year survivor and proponent for healthy living, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

For more information on the support group, call Olds at (425) 679-2458. Visit www.kcls.org for more information on other community programs.

North Bend Library is located at 115 E. Fourth St., North Bend.

Autumn flavor

at Salish Lodge

Snoqualmie’s Salish Lodge and Spa invites guests to indulge in fall-inspired happy hour menu items this autumn at the Attic Bistro restaurant and bar.

The venue, he added, also offers a spectacular setting to view the fall foliage and vibrant colors of the season.

Happy hour is 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information and a complete menu, visit www.salishlodge.com/attic.
