Middle Fork homeowners and visitors are invited to an informational meeting on efforts to fight invasive weeds in the Middle Fork Valley, 7 p.m. Monday, April 25, at Valley Camp, 49515 SE Middle Fork Road.
The event, hosted by Thom Proehl and family, will report on the progress made by home owners at finding and controlling invasive weeds in the Upper Valley, then discuss what remains to be done and how people can get involved. Participants are encouraged to bring suggestions and ideas.
Sasha Shaw from the King County Noxious Weed Control Program will be on hand to teach how to identify invasive weeds found in or near the Middle Fork Valley and explain how to control and dispose of these weeds on your own property. She will demonstrate how to use a weed wrench and a knotweed stem injector as well as give other useful tips on controlling tough weeds.
Tor Bell from the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust will provide information on where to go for native plants and other useful tips and resources, as well as describing the Greenway Trust’s invasive weed work in the Middle Fork.
