The Carnation couple whose teenage daughter was kept under lock and key and denied food and water are now facing three-year prison sentences.

The girl’s father, Jon E. Pomeroy, 43, and stepmother, Rebecca A. Long, 45, pled guilty last week to first-degree criminal mistreatment in King County Superior Court. Prosecutors are asking for 41-month prison sentences, the maximum length for the charge.

Sentencing for Pomeroy is Friday, Sept. 18, before Superior Court Judge William Downing. Long’s sentencing is set for Nov. 6.

Long and Pomeroy were arrested and charged last October. King County Sheriff’s Deputies and Child Protective Services investigated their home after a neighbor reported screaming coming from inside. When deputies found the teen, she weighed 48 pounds and looked like an 8-year-old, court papers stated.

According to charging documents, the girl told deputies that her stepmother believed she had a behavior problem, and restricted her water to about half a small Dixie cup a day, to discipline her. She hadn’t seen a doctor for several years. The girl said that Long supervised her when she went to the bathroom to keep her from sneaking any water.
