After a few close games, the Cedarcrest High School girls soccer team came out strong Tuesday, Sept. 29, to win decisively against South Whidbey, 4-0.

Senior defender McKenna Swanson kept things organized on the back line, and a variety of players contributed to a very good defensive game, Coach Evan Hatch told the Record.

Senior Maggie Pleis was in the right place at the right time all night and scored three goals in the 15th, 54th, and 56th minutes.Freshman Karli White had a one-touch goal in the 31st minute off a cross from junior defender Morgan Kather.

Also of note, senior midfielder Tia Smith and sophomore midfielder Rachel Wilhelm each had a dramatic game. Both players have been injured until recently, and both were creating constant offensive opportunities, all thanks to their extra strong work ethics, Hatch said.”In the end, everyone had one of their best games, and it was great to see the team play so well together,” he said.

The Lady Red Wolves host Lakewood on Tuesday, Oct. 4, visit Coupeville on Oct. 6, then host Archbishop Murphy Tuesday, Oct. 11. Game time is 7 p.m.
