Snoqualmie firefighter, police officer to be honored for river rescue

Two Snoqualmie emergency responders went beyond the call of duty to rescue a woman from the Snoqualmie River near the Falls on Sunday, May 22.

The woman might have drowned without firefighter Darby Summers’ quick decision to enter the river, and his extraordinary effort getting the victim and himself with the range of police officer Sean Absher’s assistance.

Both men will be honored at the Snoqualmie City Council meeting on Monday, June 13, for their heroic actions during the river rescue.

“It gives me great honor to have Darby and Sean as Snoqualmie employees,” said City Administrator Bob Larson. “Their actions are a testimony to their outstanding character and dedication to serving the community.”
