Traci Barclay, a senior who was the starting third baseman for the Wildcats this season, was one of nearly 150 students statewide to earn the Washington Award for Vocational Excellence.

The award, given annually by the state Workforce Training Education and Coordinating Board, enables recipients to receive free tuition for up to two years at any Washington state public or private college or university, according to the WTECB Web site.

Barclay received her award in the field of sports medicine. She has been heavily involved in the Mount Si sports medicine program for the last couple of years, as one of a number of student athletic trainers performing duties at Mount Si athletic contests under the direction of head athletic trainer Robin Backstrom.
