King County voters gave a dramatic “yes” vote to the renewal Veterans and Human Services Levy in the Tuesday, Aug. 16, primary election.

As of August 22, the levy was at 68 percent approval with about 223,000 “yes” votes and 100,200 “no” votes.

Final results will be posted on Aug. 31.

With passage of the levy renewal, King County can continue to support families through the multiple deployments of their loved ones, offer training and employment programs to help returning veterans transition to civilian life and others looking to earn a living wage, and reduce or prevent homelessness for individuals and families across the county.

The levy has funded services over the previous six years. Without approval, the levy would expire in December.
