Mayor proclaims McNeely day

Wednesday, Feb. 11, is officially known in Snoqualmie as Gloria McNeely Day.

Snoqualmie Mayor Matt Larson proclaimed the day in honor of the longtime city resident, who celebrated her 90th birthday last week.

McNeely moved to Snoqualmie with her husband Denton in 1940, and was employed at the Snoqualmie Valley Record as a bookkeeper and associate editor from 1951 to 1962. She worked for the King County Flood Control District as administrative services officer from 1962 to 1981, when she retired. Denton McNeely died in 1987.

McNeely’s passion for history led her to serve on the Snoqualmie Valley Historical Museum Board. She has served on the Snoqualmie Arts Commission since it was established in 2000, and was also a driving force for Snoqualmie Valley Arts Live, which was established in 1993 to bring performing arts and entertainment to the Valley, and sold in 2007.

The mayor declared that with the occasion of her birthday, it was a fitting moment to honor McNeely’s contributions to the community.
