This summer, join Seattle Public Utilities naturalists and staff to tour the unique land and water features of the 90,638-acre protected Cedar River Municipal Watershed, the source of 70 percent of the Seattle area’s drinking water.

The Drinking Water Discovery Tour is a three-hour visit by bus and by foot into the mountain river fed watershed — a great opportunity to see the source of drinking water and hear the stories of this unparalleled protected watershed, for ages 10 and up.

The Family Cedar Falls Waterfall Tour is a one-hour family tour to Cedar Falls, where visitors can experience its’ beauty and discover the importance of the Cedar River Watershed to the greater Seattle Region’s drinking water. The next tour is Saturday, Aug. 21.

The Habitat Conservation Plan Tour is a four-hour, in-depth tour highlighting ten years of Cedar River Watershed Habitat Conservation Plan projects. Explore the role that forest ecological thinning and road restoration projects have had on water supplies, wildlife, and salmon recovery efforts, for ages 12 and up.

Tours are 9:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 31, and Sunday, Aug. 22.
