A poem written for a departed sister

Letter to the Editor.

In Memory of

Marjory Lee Brady (Learnard)

1955-2000

I wrote this as a closure for my sister. On Feb. 21, we spent the

whole day celebrating her birthday. And we spent a lot of time talking.

Marjory never felt cheated of time; in fact, she told me she’d lived her life to the

fullest and that the extra four years have been a bonus.

She never once complained of pain. Instead, she would spend

hours talking with other patients, giving them encouragement to keep on

having hope, not to give up or to feel sorry for themselves.

She knew I wrote a poem and she also knew when it would be

completed.

Cry No More

Cry no more, for I’m still here.

Look to the sun and stars and know I am near.

The wind will be my laughter,

The sun will be my smile,

The rain will be my tears;

For I’ve reached my final mile.

There is no reason; there is no rhyme.

This is God’s will, so it be mine.

And for all those I’ve loved and held so dear

Let go of your sadness and rejoice and cheer

Because I will always be close and near.

Rest in peace Marjory for you will be badly missed by all your family

and friends. We will forever remember your smile, laughter, compassion

and strength.

Love, your sister and friend,

CLARA LEARNARD
