The Snoqualmie City Council will allow the Muckleshoot Tribe more time to prepare for the planned expansion of Salish Lodge and Spa.

The council passed an amendment to the five-year-old Salish Expansion Development Agreement, giving the Lodge’s owners a three-month extension on reservation of sewer capacity needed for the hotel and housing expansion.

City Attorney Pat Anderson said that the original term of the agreement held sewer capacity for five years, ending this month. Since the Muckleshoots are not ready to begin work on the 250-room, 110-home expansion plan, the amendment passed Monday, Feb. 23, gives the tribe and the city an extra three months to come up with a new deal on sewers.

The Salish expansion will also require some traffic improvement at the State Highway 202-Tokul Road intersection. Economic stimulus funding for a Tokul Road roundabout is now unlikely, city officials said last week.
