Valley felt artisan Sharlet Driggs is an artist in residence this week at Camp Sealth on Vashon Island.
The Camp Fire USA Central Puget Sound Council selected Driggs for session nine of the summer camp, Aug. 24 to 27. She will share her talents and creativity as she guides campers to create one community piece as well as individual flowers that they will be able to take home.
“Sharlet’s approach to art for youth is a perfect fit with our values at Camp Fire USA,” said Bridgett Chandler, Chief Executive Officer, Camp Fire USA Central Puget Sound Council. “Our campers will create individual pieces of art to keep and also contribute to a community art piece. This is one way that a camp experience helps kids see how they shine as individuals while they gain appreciation for how powerful it is to work toward shared goals with others.”
The session is tailored for boys and girls grade 3 through 7. The cost is $325 and the session is limited to 50 campers. To register, visit the Camp Sealth website at http://campsealth.org/homepage.html
