As school begins at the new middle school campus, new and veteran teachers at Twin Falls discussed their goals for the new year.
Showing off the band room’s all-new instruments, Matt Wenman, first-year band and choir teacher, said his new job is the realization of a dream he’s had since he took his first band class in sixth grade. He was inspired by the “cool, down-to-earth” music teachers who developed his love of the saxophone. By eighth grade, one instructor allowed him to help teach younger students.
“I got some really good experiences with conducting, and I loved it. I really haven’t ever wanted to do anything else,” he said.
After earning a music education degree from the University of Washington and student-teaching in Redmond and Bothell, Wenman landed his position establishing Twin Falls’ music program. He is teach-
