Snoqualmie resident Geoffrie Charles Glass has been formally charged with two counts of assault, one count of harassment, and one count of illegal possession of firearms in King County Superior Court Monday, June 11.

Charging documents accuse Glass, 39, of strangling his wife, Virginia, 42, on multiple occasions, of threatening to kill her, and of owning a shotgun, against state law because of his 2004 conviction for assault in the fourth degree. He will be arraigned on Thursday, June 23.

Glass was arrested in his Snoqualmie home June 7, at around 9:45 p.m. Court papers say police were called to his home by Virginia, after Glass had allegedly threatened to kill both her and her dog.

Police documents also indicate probable cause that Glass has previously committed crimes of unlawful imprisonment and animal cruelty. In the statement, Officer Kim Stonebraker reports that she attempted to contact Virginia about the suspected pattern of abuse in April of this year, after one of Virginia’s friends reported to police that she’d been assaulted by her husband. Glass already had on his record a 2004 assault conviction, from when neighbors called police to report that he was beating Virginia. His conviction on this charge resulted in written notification from King County District Court Judge Bathum that Glass could not possess any firearms until his rights were restored.

In Stonebraker’s report, Virginia described a series of abusive incidents dating back to 2004, 10 days after they were married. Glass would punch Virginia in the head, so bruising would not be visible, she said. She also detailed specific incidents of his slashing her with a knife, whipping her with a fishing pole, burning her with cigarettes or other hot metal objects, throwing her out a second-story window, and other violent behavior directed at Virginia, her dogs, and Glass’ own pets.

Virginia attempted to leave Glass in 2006 and in 2007, according to Stonebraker’s report, but in 2006, he found her and dragged her out of the friend’s home where she’d been hiding, and in 2007, she returned voluntarily after he threatened to kill her family members.

When police arrested Glass, they found two firearms in the home, court papers stated.
