• Riverbend residents are hot over a potential change in fire and aid service that would have the new Wilderness Rim station respond to calls in the residential area. Fire District 38 is currently conducting a three-month experiment during which both Wilderness Rim and North Bend fire stations are responding to fire and aid calls.

• North Bend’s newest festival apparently will be a big success, judging by the large schedule of events already in place. Horses, covered wagons, a sidewalk sale and dancing are among the features of Western Days, June 9 and 10, sponsored by the North Bend Chamber of Commerce’s Action Committee.

• The fifteenth class to graduate from Mount Si High School will take part in special baccalaureate services to open at 8 o’clock Sunday evening, May 31, in the Mount Si high gym. Commencement exercises for the 65-member class are scheduled for Wednesday, June 3. The Rev. Myron Sharrard will deliver the sermon.

• During the Seattle King County Vehicle Check held in Snoqualmie on Saturday under the auspices of the Snoqualmie Consolidated P.T.A., 100 automobiles and trucks were checked through. A total of 65 were found in A-1 condition. Which means that 35, more than one in three, were defective in some way that could have resulted in danger to their operators.
