In their first summer tournament of the season, the Cascade FC G-96 soccer team were finalists in the 2010 Sounders/Adidas FC Cup, giving up only one goal during the tournament, held the weekend of July 10 at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila.
The Girl’s U-14 bracket included 13 teams representing Washington, Hawaii and British Columbia. A highlight goal by Zoe Virta against an All-Star British Columbia team advanced the girls out of group play. Lauren Solene came up huge with two penalty kick shoot-out saves in the semi-final win over Whatcom FC Rangers Gold of Bellingham. Cascade FC finally conceded a lone breakaway goal to a strong Dos FC Premier Red team to finish second place.
The Cascade FC G96 team was represented by Snoqualmie Valley players Malia Barrett, Johanna Cranford, Lainie Gibbs, Claire Hill, Karlie Hurley, Grace Howland, Emily Johns, Kendyl Massey, Gillian Minnie, Katherine Ramirez-Gonzalez, Maggie Richey, Lauren Solene, Dharyanne Springer-Simon, Sabrina Thomas, Zoe Virta, “KK” Wallace, Maddie Weir and Morgan Wilson. The team is coached by Jeremy Eisenman.
