It isn’t often we can do great good with so little effort.

I once interned in an overflowing high school where students fell through the cracks. Later, I taught there after a second high school opened. The difference was stunning. With the population reduced, all students were known and the stress level for teachers and students greatly reduced.

If you’ve ever tried living in a home too small for the number of occupants and then moved to more adequate space, you know this experience.

Growth will continue throughout our Valley. Whether we like it or not, this is our reality. Developers will pay impact fees, but they will never cover all school construction costs. That’s how it works.

All Snoqualmie Valley district schools have at least one portable classroom; some have several. The district has done everything possible to minimize cost while maximizing space. The district facilities committee’s work was comprehensive. Valley Voters for Education provided numerous opportunities to learn about the district’s facilities’ needs. The rest is up to us.

Studies show America is losing its competitive edge. Competitiveness requires an excellent education. Such an education is impossible in jam-packed facilities. We now have two schools over capacity and it only gets worse while costs to build increase every day.

On May 15, we can provide improved facilities and opportunities for our children – our children. Every child in our Valley is the responsibility of every voter. I realize more taxes will be a hardship for some. Others have issues with the district. Please find a way to overcome your concerns – then vote for the school bond.

Together we can make a huge difference in our community. We can do this. You can help.
