Mount Si students show off automotive skils

Competing in this year's Puget Sound Regional Skills USA competition, two students from the Automotive Maintenance Program at Mount Si High School got to show their automotive know-how.

Competing in this year’s Puget Sound Regional Skills USA competition, two students from the Automotive Maintenance Program at Mount Si High School got to show their automotive know-how.

Performing 14 different maintenance tasks on Thursday, Feb. 4, at Shoreline Community College’s Professional Automotive Training Center, junior T.J. Hinman and sophomore Brendan Pike represented Mount Si and were judged on elapsed time and accuracy.

Tasks focused on the four main ASE certification areas of brakes, steering, suspension, engine performance and electrical systems.

Skills USA is a program to help establish industry standards for job skilling training in labs and classrooms and to promote community service.
