Reading for one hour at a Take Time To Read promotion at Snoqualmie Library, Snoqualmie Mayor Matt Larson gets into “Team of Rivals” by Doris Kearns Goodwin, a book on the life and times of Abraham Lincoln.

“We’re so easily distracted with video games, TV, movies, electronics—it’s just immediate gratification,” Larson said. “Reading is a way to slow down and immerse yourself in a topic or a story. That allows us to reflect more deeply.”

King County Library System invites other local residents, movers and shakers to help promote reading.
