Mount Si’s cross country team faced off against several teams this past week, with good results.

Facing Sammamish and Lake Washington last Wednesday, Sept. 24, in Bellevue, Wildcat girls dominated, with four in the top 10. They were led by the 1-2 finishes of Alex Rudd, who clocked a time of 20:04, and Megan Past, who finished six seconds back with a time of 20:10. Kendall Maddux (20:51) and Katie Rylands (20:53) finished sixth and seventh respectively at the meet, held at Robinswood Park.

Jesserah Helm (21:57) and Katricia Stewart (22:05) finished 11th and 12th. Sally Miller, Kayla Supkoff and McKinna Little finished 14th, 15th and 16th, respectively, and strong efforts were also seen from Julie Censullo, Geena Bumgardner, Cassady Weldon and Katie Jensen.

There were no official times for the boys, since athletes, according to Wildcat coach Christine Kjenner, did not follow the prescribed three-mile course due to confusion about the route.

Cross county runners traveled to Lake Sammamish State Park on Saturday, Sept. 27, to compete in the Bellevue High School invitational. The boys were led by a strong run from Max McDevitt, who clocked a time of 17:02 in the Varsity 1/2 event. Solid times were also delivered by Zac Pearlstein (17:27 in the Varsity 3/4) and Michael Blackmon (17:57 in the 1/2). Brett Duncan, Ben Houldridge, Richard Carmichael, Brandon Roddewig and Landon Storrud also competed.

Alex Rudd led the way for the girls with a time of 20:28 in their 1/2 event, while Megan Past (21:22 in the 1/2) and Kendall Maddux (21:36 in the 3/4) also fared well. Dannah Parsons, Alix Crandell, Sally Miller, Katie Rylands, Geena Bumgardner and Jesserah Helm also ran.

The meet attracted a number of schools throughout Washington, including Kingco rivals Interlake, Bellevue, Juanita, Mercer Island, Sammamish, Issaquah, Roosevelt, Ballard and Lake Washington. Schools from Yakima, Spokane, Port Angeles, and the Tri-Cities were also in attendance, along with Mount Si’s Valley rivals from Cedarcrest.
