Jennifer Rogers of Snoqualmie represented her state at the 19th annual National Judges Cup Gymnastics Championship last Saturday, Jan. 3, in Kissimme, Fla.

Rogers began her gymnastics training under Yoshi Nakayama at Sno-Valley Gymanstics, now known as Puget Sound Gymnastics and Dance in North Bend.

She currently competes with Gymnastics East of Bellevue and attends Snoqualmie Middle School, where she is a sixth-grade student with straight As.

In Florida, Rogers took part in the prestigious Level 7 State Team Challenge. The competition was created for the National Judges Cup and has become a premiere session in the competition.

In teams of six, Level 7 gymnasts compete for the title of State Team Challenge Champion. Up to 20 states have been represented at past National Judges Cups, and this number continues to grow. Washington has never finished lower than fourth place.

State judges selected six athletes to represent Washington at the Holiday Express meet held Dec. 19 in Kent.

Rogers placed first in her age group in her first Level 7 event. She took 10th place in two sessions of Level 7 gymnasts over all age groups.

The state judging organization helped Rogers travel to Florida by providing her with the registration fee and a Washington State team leotard.
