In celebration of National Grandparents Day, Sunday, Sept. 13, the Northwest Railway Museum is hosting special train rides aboard the Snoqualmie Valley Railroad on Sept. 12 and 13.
During the Museum’s “Grandparents Grand Excursion” event in Snoqualmie, Washington, grandparents’ ride free all weekend when accompanied by their paying grandchildren of any age. Last year, more than 500 grandparents and their grandchildren took a ride aboard the Snoqualmie Valley Railroad and experienced the scenic beauty of the Cascade foothills and Snoqualmie Falls.
“The preservation of the stories and memories from the older generation is as important as the preservation of the artifacts in our museum,” said Richard Anderson, executive director of The Northwest Railway Museum. “National Grandparents Day is an opportunity to honor and visit with the many wonderful seniors in our community. We hope the Grandparents Grand Excursion encourages support for this very special day.”
Trains depart every 75 minutes beginning at 12:01p.m. from the Snoqualmie Depot at 38625 S.E. King St. and at 12:26 p.m. from the North Bend Depot at 205 McClellan St. Roundtrip fares are $7 for grandchildren ages 2 to 12, $10 for grandchildren ages 13 to 61 and $9 grandchildren ages 62 and older.
