Members of the Junior Wildcat Rookie White youth football team got a rare chance to tour the Seattle Seahawks’ new training facility in Renton on Saturday, Nov. 8.
The team held their end-of-season party the previous day, and each player got to pick one person to take the tour with them.
The group got to see the outdoor field and 12th fan flag, the theater where the team watches game films, classrooms where players study, the weight room, a lunch room with cereal dispensers and a PBJ station, and playing fields.
The group enjoyed the indoor field the best, playing ball where the Seahawks do.
“All the boys and most of their dads were running all over and taking turns kicking field goals,” said mom DeAnna Haverfield. “It was hard to tell who really were the kids!”
During the tour, Seahawks staff told the boys how they work with Mount Si High School football coach Charlie Kinnune.
“The boys thought that was so cool — ‘I know him, we play on his field, he is my friend,’” Haverfield said. “They felt really connected.”
The visit was something the team will cherish forever, she added.
