Summer concerts to make music in Snoqualmie parks

Families can bring a picnic dinner, sit back and relax or get up and dance, enjoying live outdoor music in Snoqualmie this summer.

Summer concerts in Snoqualmie Parks include music that all generations can enjoy.

The Brakes play oldies at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at Centennial Fields. They are a Northwest oldies cover band with roots deep in the Snoqualmie Valley. The Brakes focus on the top-40 songs of the ‘60s and ‘70s, including The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, CCR and Motown, among other favorites.

Stay Tuned, a group of musicians from the Pacific Northwest, plays Bluegrass tunes at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21 at Railroad Park, by the gazebo in downtown Snoqualmie. Their music spans a variety of genres, with Bluegrass instrumentation — the banjo, bass, guitar, mandolin and vocals.

Snoqualmie rangers offer guided walks

The Snoqualmie Ranger District in North Bend recently launched a new guided nature walk program in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.

The ranger-guided walk takes visitors on a mile-long, 90-minute paved loop, with no climbing required. Visitors may see opsrey, beaver, elk and landlocked sockeye salmon on the walk to Gold Creek Pond.

Nature walks are offered at 10 a.m. Saturdays and 1 p.m. Sundays through Sept. 14. Reservations are required and a $10 donation is requested. Call the forest service visitor information center at (425) 434-6111, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday through Monday, to reserve a spot.
