Rescuers are attempting to scale a cliff atop Snoqualmie Pass Friday morning, Aug. 6, to retrieve a stranded dog.

Members of the King County Sheriff’s Office’s Search and Rescue arm joined the Washington State Animal Response Team, or WASART, in the rescue operation.

The dog, a German Pointer, was walking with its owners when it fell off the cliff late Thursday, about nine miles from the Pacific Crest trailhead at the top of the pass.

According to media reports, the dog landed on a ledge about 150 feet below the trail, surviving the fall, and is awake but scared.

Det. Kathy Decker, coordinator for King County Search and Rescue, said Friday morning that the rescue attempt is ongoing.
