The Red Wolves boys took second as a team, girls third, in a four-way meet Thursday, April 21, at home against Lakewood, South Whidbey and Sultan. Cedarcrest was strong in sprinting events, and had some potent distance and field contenders, such as girls relayers and boys hurlers.
Girls events
High points for the Lady Red Wolves included a domination of several short- and long-distance events. Cedarcrest’s Morgan Kather dominated the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.85 seconds. Molly Gorman took sixth. Morgan took second in the 200-meters with 28.76. Senior Tenaya Davis led in the 400 meter dash with 1:03.70, followed by Cara Stodel with 1:04.38. Sophomore Molly Hammontree led the 300 hurdles with 53.4.
The Cedarcrest girls led in the 4X400 meter relay; junior Tasha Hartwig, Hammontree, sophomore Shannon Fischer and Davis competed. Senior Jessica Beam won the 3,200 meter race with 11:58.48, and Brenna Eldredge took fourth in the 1,600 meter run.
Boys results
Sprints were strong for the boys, who also cleaned up in some throws. Senior Josh Denison led in the 400 meter dash with 54.42. Austin Koons and Justin Houser took third and fourth, respectively. Zach Jordan took second in 300 meter hurdles with 43.2.
The Red Wolves took the two-three-four slots in the 200 meter dash with Matt Erickson at 24.79, Josh Denison at 25 seconds and Austin Koons at 25.89.
Chad Linnerooth dominated the 800 meter race with 2:03.2, followed by Mitchell Montgomery at third and Dominic Dams at fourth.
In the 1,600 meter run, Montgomery took second with 4:37.02, about two seconds behind Lakewood’s Kris Mugrage while Linnerooth took third.
Justin Houser led javelin with a 155-foot toss.Tyler Smith led shot put, Bennett Minnie took second at pole vault and Tyler Smith took second in discus.
