The Snoqualmie Middle School seventh and eighth grade girls track teams made a strong showing Thursday, May 21, against Issaquah Middle School.
While the seventh grade Lady Eagles were outnumbered by the Issaquah Panthers, they placed in 12 of the 13 events, barely missing a team win. Leading the way with wins for the seventh grade girls were Kristen Kasel in the hurdles, Erin Rylands in the 1,600-meter race, and Erica Hookland in the discus. The medley relay team of Kasel, Hookland, Madeleine Hutchison and Celine Fowler scored a first-place victory.
Second place finishers were Kasel in the 100-meter race and discus, Hutchison in the 400-meter race, Fowler in the 200-meter race, Rylands in the high jump, Maddy Esteb in the 800-meter race and Hookland in the hurdles. Third place finishers were Alanna Hayes in the 800-meter race, Fowler in the discus, Hutchison in the long jump and Esteb in the high jump.
In the eighth grade meet, Nadja Beattie led the scoring with a first place finish in the hurdles and a second in the 100-meter race. Teammate Katie Huerta was a double winner with a first in the 800-meter race and a third in the high jump. Bringing home a second place in the 400-meter race was Amanda Smith.
The Lady Eagles’ next meet is 3 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at Mount Si High School. The following week, they will be competing in the Foothills League Finals, at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, at Liberty High School.
