Rally in the Valley scheduled

The Mount Si High School Football Booster Club is sponsoring its second annual Rally in the Valley on Saturday, June 7.

This popular and exciting fund-raiser is an adult flag football tournament held at the Mount Si stadium. All proceeds benefit Mount Si athletics.

Last year, football boosters equipped the high school’s weight room with much-needed new equipment, making it one of the best facilities in the state. This year, proceeds will be used to fund technology to enhance training, analysis and extend the athletic department’s capabilities.

Anyone can play in the Rally for the Valley. Teams must have seven to 14 players, and can include men and women 18 years and up. Cost to participate is $40 per player, and includes lunch, hospitality tent and a souvenir T-shirt. Local gymnasts compete

The Gymnastics East Junior Olympic Level 5 team took part in the Spring Sectionals meet, held Sunday, April 13, at Federal Way High School.

Madison Unson of Preston tied for fifth place in the 11-year-old age group with an all-around score of 35.225. On her individual events, she placed 20th on vault with an 8.575, 12th on bars with a 9.00, fifth on the beam with a 9.30, and 61st on floor with an 8.35.

Mackenzie Brown of Snoqualmie came in at fifth place in age 12 and up division with an all-around score of 35.10. On her individual events she placed third on vault with a 9.0, 72nd on bars with an 8.00, 16th on beam with an 8.9, and 10th on floor with a 9.20.

Hailey Johnson of North Bend tied for fifth in the 11-year-old age division with an all-around score of 35.225. She came in 16th on vault with an 8.70, 24th on bars with an 8.825, seventh on beam with a 9.2, and 49th on floor with an 8.50.

Amanda Dumont of Preston placed seventh in ages 12-and-up age division with a score of 34.60. She placed 12th on vault with an 8.725, 29th place on bars with an 8.75, 46th on beam with an 8.475, and 46th on floor with an 8.65.

Jessica Trotto of North Bend placed eighth in the 12-and-up age division with an all-around score of 34.475. She placed 25th on vault with an 8.50, 54th on bars with an 8.35, 29th on beam with an 8.75, and 31st on floor with an 8.875.

Nicole Young of Carnation came in 18th place in the age 11 division with an all-around score of 32.225. She placed 76th on vault with a 7.675, 54th on bars with an 8.35, 68th on beam with an 8.15, and 75th on floor with an 8.05.

Mallory Fortier of Snoqualmie placed 12th in the age 10 division with a score of 33.25. She placed 64th on vault with a 7.90, 50th on bars with an 8.45, 49th on beam with an 8.45, and 52nd on floor with an 8.45.

Scores were ranked by age group for all-around and were ranked with all age groups combined for the individual events.

Local rowers get gold

The Samammish Rowing Association won gold medals at the recent Northwest Sculling Regatta on Lake Stevens. Fall City’s own Evan Herman, competing in the 4-by-1,500 meter, won gold in a time of 5:04.03 along with teammates Austin Ward, Robertn [SPELLING?] Munn and Andrew Perkins. James Norman of North Bend won the Junior Men’s Novice single 1,500-meter race in a time of 6:53.15.
