NORTH BEND – A 35-year-old man was rescued from rapidly moving water in the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River feeding Twin Falls on Sunday, July 31. The man was climbing down a rock wall with a friend to swim in the river east of North Bend, but upon reaching the water the man realized the strong currents would carry him over the falls causing serious injury or death. He and his climbing partner realized they could not climb back up the rock wall due to fatigue. The man remained on a log and was harnessed to a climbing rope.

His partner called 911 and Fall City fire department personnel, Bellevue Medic 3 paramedics and King County Search and Rescue personnel were dispatched to the scene around 3:30 p.m. The man was rescued and had no injuries. He declined further assistance and was left at the scene with his climbing partner.
