Mount Si athletes excel in distance, field events at state meet

Hannah Waskom, a Mount Si junior, claimed a spot on the podium for the girls 3200-meter run, placing third with a time of 10:51.58. She trailed the winner, Taylor Roe of Lake Stevens, by less than 30 seconds. Mount Si classmate Melissa Hruska, a senior, also placed in the top eight in the race, running it in 11:04.51.

In the girls 1600-meter run, Waskom took 8th place with 5:05.30, about 15 seconds behind Roe, who again took first.

Lauren Rutherford and Tatum Dalgleish made top-20 finishes in the girls long jump competition, too. With a jump of 17 feet and a quarter inch, Rutherford took ninth place. Dalgleish took 15th with 15 feet, 2.75 inches.

In the boys competition, senior Baly Botten placed seventh in the pole vault competition with a jump of 14 feet.

Junior Jacob Belceto took eighth place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.7. Joe Waskom, a freshman running in the 3200-meter race, took ninth place with a time of 9:27.09.
