In its continuing effort to develop and support the youth of the Snoqualmie Valley, our local Kiwanis Club held its annual spaghetti feed on Sept. 15 at Mount Si High School. Our focus this year was the Key Club at Mount Si and we have determined that all profits will be given to this group to bolster its efforts.

Mount Si’s Key Club is a gem that simply hasn’t received enough recognition. This large high-school group is a service-based organization that continually develops wholesome activities aimed at improving the surrounding community, and often not just the high-school arena. The club’s advisor, Joe Dockery, is a KCTS Golden Apple award winner and his leadership has for years developed Mount Si’s Key Club into an organization that is viewed statewide as one of the best.

With this in mind, Kiwanis is excited that the spaghetti feed was such an overwhelming success. Our special thanks to Chris Garcia of Frankies Pizza, as well as Bill Weller and Doug Bender of QFC for their contributions to the raffle we held in conjunction with the event. Likewise, we appreciate that so many folks from the community came out that night to eat spaghetti, knowing that the cost of their ticket would be turned around to the Key Club.

In the near future, Kiwanis will be presenting a check in the amount exceeding $500 to the Key Club. It is heartwarming to be able to able to bring the community together in a fun event that ultimately benefits such a fine group of young men and women.
