In anticipation of windy, stormy weather forecast for the weekend, North Bend Fan Fest organizers have announced the event will be canceled.
The event, scheduled for Saturday afternoon, would have included live music, children’s activities, appearances by Seahawks performers and a car show and food drive by the Wheels of Boom car club, a group of car owners with collector cars customized with Seahawks themes. The food drive was to benefit the Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank in North Bend.
“The determining factor for cancelling is the forecast of wind,” said North Bend events coordinator Stacey Cepeda, Thursday morning.
A high wind watch is in effect for all or parts of King, San Juan, Whatcom, and Skagit Counties, as an ocean storm moves up the Washington coast today. The National Weather Service forecast winds in the Puget Sound region could reach 20 to 35 mph with gusts of 45 to 55 mph Thursday, with a more severe storm system moving in by Saturday.
“We had an inside venue selected, but it still meant our vendors and club cars would be outside in a parking lot,” Cepeda said.
Poor attendance was also expected for the event, due to the weather forecast.
Cepeda added that they have discussed rescheduling the event. For updates, follow the North Bend Fan Fest on Facebook.
