Sam Shepard’s play ‘True West,’ a volatile tale of sibling rivalry, is onstage Friday and Saturday, May 9 and 10, 16 and 17, 23 and 24 at Isadora’s Books and Cafe, 8062 Railroad Ave. in downtown Snoqualmie, presented by Theatre Black Dog.
Showtime is 8 p.m., doors open at 7 p.m.
True West is the story of two brothers, one a hobo thief, the other an Ivy league writer, who collide at their mother’s California home.
The original production helped make actor John Malkovich a star, Isadora’s owner Cris Coffing said.
This is the 15th theatrical production to be staged at Isadora’s, which is transformed for the production, with books pushed out of the way and the dining area turned into a stage.
“You’re so close to the actors,” she said.
The play features local actors James Holmes-Pohle, Greg Balmer, Dan Conklin and Patti Penner, and is directed by Issaquah resident Susan Bradford.
There is a $15 suggested donation. Beer, wine, coffee, desserts and snacks are served.
