Shoppers from all over the region scoured post-Thanksgiving sales at the Factory Stores at North Bend during the official kickoff of the holiday shopping season Friday, Nov. 28.

Many of the stores at the mall opened at midnight, when there was a line to get into the Coach outlet. Business at the upscale accessories shop was “crazy” until about 3 a.m., store employees said.

Lisa Alexander drove about 50 miles from Orting to get gifts for her daughter, niece and nephew at Mount Si Board & Skate, which was bustling a couple of hours after its 7 a.m. opening.

“There are good prices on boarding stuff, and we’re getting ready for ski season,” Alexander said.

Elizabeth Watson of North Bend didn’t get her shopping started until 10 a.m., but was lugging several large bags full of Christmas gifts by noon.

“I’m doing my part for the national economy,” she said.
