John E. Briggs

John Eugene Briggs of San Antonio, Texas, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011, following a courageous battle with cancer. John was the eldest son of Lee and the late Roberta (Bert) Briggs of Snoqualmie. After graduating from Mt. Si High School, class of 1968, John enlisted in the Air Force, serving his country in Vietnam and retiring in 1989. John continued to serve his country until his passing, working for government contractors serving the needs of our military around the globe, including Iraq. John is survived by his wife, Grace, and his three stepchildren, Daphne, Bea and Brix. In addition John is survived by his father, Lee Briggs, a lifelong resident of Snoqualmie, John’s two sisters, Chrys Leonard of Snoqualmie and Jane Venera of Ellensburg, and his brother, Patrick Briggs of Renton, along with 3 nieces and 1 nephew, aunts, uncles and cousins. With John’s passing, he has joined his mother, Bert, who predeceased him in July 2007. John will be greatly missed, forever loved, and remembered by family and friends as a loving, generous and good natured son, brother and friend. John was not only dedicated and committed to his family and friends but he was passionate about serving his country and all those serving in our Armed Forces. In lieu of flowers and consistent with John’s love of country and to those who serve, donations may be made to: Snoqualmie Valley Veterans Memorial – SVHM, PO Box 179, North Bend, WA 98045. A celebration of John’s life will be held on Sunday, September 11th from 1-4pm at the Sno-Valley Eagles Hall.
