Robert (Bob) L. Stevens was born on May 4, 1932 in Lead, South Dakota, to Harry and Florence Stevens.
At age 10, the family moved to Fall City, as World War II brought the Depression to an end and Harry was able to get a job at the Snoqualmie Falls Lumber Company.
Bob graduated Mount Si High School in 1951 and joined the Air Force. Two years later, the Korean War ended and he received an early discharge. He then used his GI Bill benefits to enroll in Civil Engineering at Washington State University. After his first year of study, he transferred to the University of Washington. A major part of his attraction to the Seattle campus was its proximity to his childhood friend and sweetheart, June Matthew. They were married on September 21, 1957. He graduated from the UW in December 1960 and they moved to Olympia where he worked briefly for the State Highway Department. Then, he worked briefly for the engineering firm Sverdrup and Parcel in Bellevue. Finally, while supervising the installation of an oil dock in Ferndale, he landed the job of a lifetime with Manson Construction in Seattle where he eventually became a Vice President. From Manson, he retired twice and they still could not keep him away.
Bob was a volunteer for the Fall City Fire Department for 25 years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved nothing more than his family. Bob and June spent much of their time traveling the world, hiking the Highpoints and watching their grandkids grow up.
Bob passed away at Red Oak Assisted Care Facility in North Bend on Tuesday November 29, 2016, at the age of 84.
He is survived by his wife, June; their three sons, Vic (Robin), Van (Brenda) and Kirk (Laurie); brother Gene (Carol); grandchildren, Matt, Mark, Stefani and Robbie and many nieces and nephews.
His life will be celebrated on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 2pm at Snoqualmie Valley Alliance Church in Fall City.
