Two Mount Si High school seniors Shelby Johnson and Samantha Holmes were able to close out their high school careers with great scores at the 4A State Gymnastics tournament on Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall.
While the team as a whole did not qualify for state, five individual Mount Si gymnasts did. Along with Holmes and Johnson, Anna Steenvoorde, Sarah Christopherson, Tylor Zweifelhofer and Morgan Lowell qualified for state.
In the all-around, Holmes led the team with a score of 34.6 and 20th place finish. Holmes also led the team in bars with a score of 8.15. Four other Mount Si Gymnastics competed in bars as well. Steenvoorde scored an 8.076, Lowell scored 7.45, Zweifelhofer scored 7.3 and Christopherson scored 7.15.
Competing in the Individual Vault event, Johnson scored 9.275 and finished in 10th place and Holmes scored 9.175, finishing in 14th.
In the beam event, Holmes led with an 8.35, with Chirstopherson and Zweifelhofer not too far behind with 7.7 and 7.575 score’s respectively.
In the floor event, Chirstopherson led with a score of 9.0. Holmes scored 8.85 and Steenvoorde scored 8.1.
