Local Scouts clean up trash on Lake Alice Road

If you were on Lake Alice Road the morning of Saturday, Feb. 18, you likely saw seven young men walking along the road, in the rain, with trash bags. The removal of roadside rubbish was a service project for the 11-year-olds in Boy Scouts Troop 706, sponsored by the Snoqualmie Falls Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Scoutmaster Glenn Sypher, a long time Fall City resident and businessman, organized the event, during which the Scouts cleaned up a roughly three-mile stretch from the Lake Alice boat launch to Preston-Fall City Road.

Along the way, the boys also identified 10 plants and located evidence of 10 different animals, a tradition on their hikes.

They deposited their many bags of collected trash in the dumpster on the King County Roads Facility in Fall City, with permission.

Participants included Alex Blair, Sterling Fannin, Seth Flower, Curtis Jarocki, Javis Taylor, Jacob Siple and Tanner Weed, along with Scoutmaster Glenn Sypher and Assistant-Scoutmaster Shane Taylor.
