Season ends for Mount Si boys
Mount Si fell to O’Dea, 55–47, on Tuesday, March 3, in a loser-out SeaKing District contest at Ingraham High School.
The Wildcat boys ended their season with a 15-9 record, 9-3 in league.
“We got a lot accomplished,” said player Taylor Campell. “Coming in as a young team, we really had a successful year. Going into districts, going against the really hard teams, we did pretty good.
Campbell’s prediction for next year, when he returns as a senior: “We’re going really far.”
Cascade FC tryout planned
Snoqualmie Valley Youth Soccer Association will be hosting tryouts for Cascade FC, its advanced development program, on Sunday, March 22, for players U-17 and U-18 players.
Registration is required. There is no fee to participate in the tryouts. All other age groups will have tryouts in May.

Hawks outmanned by Bulldogs
The Chief Kanim Middle School seventh and eighth grade boys basketball teams traveled to Beaver Lake on Wednesday, March 4.
The Hawks teams were outmanned by two tough Bulldog teams. Still, coaching staff said told the Record they were proud of the Hawks’ attitude and effort.
Chief Kanim seventh grade standouts included Jackson Nelson with 16 points, Jake Archambeau with eight, Jack Hunt with four, Alex Dowelski with four, and Ethan Seneker with two.
At the eighth grade, standouts included Austin Hall with seven points and five steals, Griffen McLain with six points and seven rebounds, Joey Cotto with four points, Blake Gillespie and Chase Luxerg with two apiece, and Alex Censullo with one.
Chief Kanim JV jolts Tolt
The Chief Kanim Middle School eighth grade junior varsity basketball team beat Tolt on Friday, Feb. 27 in a see-saw battle. Both teams exchanged leads in the first half, but in the second, the Chief Kanim Hawks got serious, played great defense and ran an efficient offense, coaches said.
The final score was 40-31. Leading the Hawks was Brandon Samphire with 11 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots. All players scored. Jared Schattenkerk had 11 points, Allen Reid scored six, Nick Schillreff and Ryan Bolen ahd four points, and Max Kenagy and Kyle Clary had two each. Coach Fowler said he is impressed with the team’s never-die attitude.
