On Aug. 4, the Snoqualmie Sister Cities Association will bring a new class of exchange students from Gangjin, Korea, to the city for two weeks. With the anticipated arrival of 20 exchange students, the Sister Cities Association is looking for volunteers to act as host families for the students while they are here.
The students will arrive on Aug. 4 and leave on Aug. 20. The Sister Cities Association is looking for families with children in elementary, middle, high school, or home school. Connections with the program could lead to opportunities for host family students to travel to Gangjin on future exchange trips.
Once they arrive in Snoqualmie, the students will go on tours of Seattle, a camping trip, hike local trails, and attend summer festivals. The host families will have weeknights and weekends to get to know the students.
A $500 stipend for each student is available for host families to offset the cost of food. Each student will have traveler’s insurance and his or her own spending money.
An opportunity to travel to Snoqualmie’s sister city of Gangjin is available to nine Mount Si High School students this summer as part of the annual exchange program, as well.
From July 20 to Aug. 4, students will travel to South Korea to tour the country and participate in various activities. Each student will live with a host family, selected by the Sister Cities Association.
