Parents struggling with children’s substance use can find support at Parenting 180 meetings

Snoqualmie Valley Community Network and Friends of Youth have partnered to create a parent support network for parents and caregivers who have children struggling with substance use or are in recovery. Parenting 180 meets from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month, at Snoqualmie City Hall.

Parenting 180 was created following a community event about eliminating the stigma related to youth substance use. Those who attended that community event asked for the Snoqualmie Valley Community Network and Friends ofYouth to start a group in which parents could come together, share ideas, learn strategies, and build a supportive community.

These meetings provide the opportunity to explore topics suggested by participants and time to check in with other parents to compare notes about what is working and what is challenging. Join Parenting 180 to be a part of a community of parents striving to “turn around” their experiences, to gain a better understanding of substance use as an illness, and to learn skills for staying healthy. Pizza will be served during the meetings.
