The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the city of North Bend its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2017-18 biennial budget.

The award represents a significant achievement by North Bend. It reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.

To earn the budget award, North Bend had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. The guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device. Budget documents are reviewed by peers from across the U.S. and must be rated proficient in all four categories, and in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.

In addition to the award to the city, the GFOA presented a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation to Dawn Masko, Deputy City Administrator and Beth Wright, Deputy Finance Director, as the primary individuals responsible for the city having achieved this prestigious award.

This is the city of North Bend’s 8th National GFOA Award for budget publications.

“We are extremely proud of Deputy City Administrator and Finance Director Dawn Masko, Deputy Finance Director Beth Wright and the entire finance department” said North Bend Mayor Ken Hearing. “The citizens here are very well served and this award is yet another example of the quality of our city staff.”
