The Teen Closet, a clothing bank for Snoqualmie Valley students, may have closed this summer but it’s soon to re-open as The New Teen Closet. This new organization, operated by The Trail Youth, will host its first clothing drive, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 at the Snoqualmie Fire Station.
The New Teen Closet will operate a little differently, though. As part of the organization’s youth coffee house mission, the Trail Youth runs a leadership development program which trains teens in life skills and casts a vision for their community and the world. The Teen Closet has been incorporated into their leadership program. Currently, the group is developing a youth board that is working on mission statements, policies and procedures, and event planning and execution.
At their first clothing drive, the group will accept all types of clothing, including young children’s clothes, but they will not accept used undergarments or used socks. Items that are in particular need right now include new underwear, new socks, prom dresses, suits, sport coats, fleece pajama bottoms and shoes.
