The Snoqualmie Police Department will participate in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Snoqualmie Fire Station located at 37600 SE Snoqualmie Parkway.
The disposal of these drugs is free and anonymous, and includes a drive-through drop-off in the parking lot.
This is the fifteenth anniversary of this program. Last fall, residents of Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington turned in more than 35,058 pounds, or 17.5 tons, of expired and unwanted medications for safe and proper disposal at 175 take back sites in the Northwest.
The event is an opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted and unused prescription and over-the-counter drugs. Many Americans do not know the safest way to dispose of their unwanted or expired medicine, often causing safety and environmental hazards by flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the garbage.
For year-round prescription drop-off, the Snoqualmie Police Department offers a drop-off box at the station Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 34825 SE Douglas St. Other locations throughout King County can be found at http://www.med-project.org/loc
