The Kids’ Trout Derby, a free event hosted by the Mount Si Fish and Game Club to promote interest in the outdoors, takes place May 5 from daylight to 10 a.m. at the ponds behind the Snoqualmie Police Department, 34825 S.E. Douglas Street.

Children ages 5 to 14 may compete. There will be free coffee, donuts and hot chocolate will fortify parents and young anglers.

Competition Details:

• No registration is necessary

• Children ages 5 to 14 may compete

• Children under 5 may fish

• There is a limit of two fish

• Bring your own fishing tackle

• Nets are not allowed

• No dogs are allowed on site
