Snoqualmie student to Graduate from University of Montana

Sydney Young, a standout Wildlife Biology student from Snoqualmie, achieved multiple accolades.

A standout student from Snoqualmie, Washington, was among the graduates receiving a diploma at the University of Montana on May 12.

Sydney Young graduated with honors from UM with a bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology. She will be sworn in as a Montana game warden today, only two after she graduated, making her one of only four female wardens among the roughly 75 spread across Big Sky Country.

From Snoqualmie, Washington, Sydney has worked toward becoming a warden since winter 2017.

“I’m very excited for the opportunity to protect the natural resources of the Last Best Place,” she said, adding that Associate Professor Lisa Eby’s dedication to students and the field of fisheries helped shape her academic journey.
