Our dad “Smitty” was born July 21, 1922 to Mattie Earl and Milton Smith in Eliasville, Texas and raised by his deeply loved step-father Oliver Burgess.

Our ‘Texan’ ended up in San Diego where he met and married Martha Uland on October 27, 1946. Together they raised 4 children who survive him, Connie, Sherrie, Brad and Daniel. Let it be said that son-in-laws Larry and Mike loved and cared for Smitty as their own father. His 8 grandchildren and great-grandchildren will miss PaPa.

For the last 5 years Smitty lived at Mt Si Transitional Center in North Bend. The family wished to express deep thanks and appreciation to the nurses, aides and staff who always went above and beyond to care for our dad. They became his family and ours and have our sincere gratitude.

A graveside service will be held at a later date.
