Carnation holidays include concert, scavenger hunt

Register in front of Hopelink on Bird Street in downtown Carnation.

Participants receive a passport and must solve riddles to compete for prizes during the hunt.

Hunters earn points by getting their passports stamped at each location. They can earn five bonus points by purchasing an item from a participating business, or by answering a holiday question.

The hunt ends at 4 p.m. when teams must return with their passports. The winning team will be announced at 5 p.m., and will receive a gift certificate for a Christmas tree from the Carnation Tree Farm. There will be more giveaways for the most creatively dressed team, best Christmas hat, craziest Christmas sweater and more.

Prizes include tickets to the Cascade Community Theatre production “Babes in Toyland” at Tolt Middle School and Cedarcrest High School’s “Moon Over Buffalo.” High School on Dec. 3, 4, 10 and 11.

Christmas in Carnation

Christmas in Carnation performance is 4 to 6 p.m. in front of Hopelink, with entertainment by Cedarcrest High School Band & Choir, Tolt Choir, Jack Ballard, the local Church’s Choirs, performances from the local school plays.

Santa Claus arrives at 5:15 p.m., and the community tree lighting is 5:45 p.m.

There will be Pete’ Club & Grill chili, Mosaic Catering tomato soup, coffee from Starbucks, hot cider from Sandy’s Espresso, Lazy K’s pizza and s’mores from Camp Korey. Dog Mountain Farms will be back with free wagon rides from 3 to 6 p.m.

The Carnation Chamber of Commerce will be asking for donations to go towards the 2011 community Christmas lights. The Chamber hopes to raise $1,000.

There will be activities all day, including the Sno-Valley Senior Center with Santa. The Carnation Library will have World Songs at 3 p.m. Carnation Corners hosts an open house with Matt the Gurgle Pot creator following the tree lighting.

Carnation residents can also vote for the best-decorated house. December 4 through 20, you can vote for your favorite house in the city limits of Carnation at the local businesses including Lazy K’s, Carnation Corners, Millers and City Hall.
