Swimmers of all ages can dive into lessons on pool safety, during April Pool’s Day, Saturday, April 19, at the Si View Metro Parks pool, 400 S.E. Orchard Drive in North Bend.

The free event, loaded with all sorts of water safety information, handouts, packets, demonstrations and participatory events, includes prize giveaways, such as a brand new Mustang life jacket.

There will be a free one-hour public swim and a cannonball contest.

The idea behind Pool’s Day is that as spring approaches and families start planning to hit the water this summer, it’s a good time to teach drowning prevention and how to be safe on the water.

April Pool’s Day is co-sponsored by the American Red Cross, the Drowning Prevention Network of Washington State, Children’s Regional Medical Center and the Si View Metro Parks District.
